Chicago

January 28, 2013

Oh lordy.  We went to Chicago to photograph a wedding…..LAST AUGUST!  I will never get behind on blogging again I tell you.

This was such an exciting trip to me for several reasons.  1.  We got to photograph a wedding in Chicago!  We love to travel and we love love love to go places for weddings – don’t let us being out of town photographers stop you!  Our travel fees are minimal to none depending on where!  2.  Neither one of us had ever been to Chicago before!  3.  It was one of our first trips away after living in Europe for so long so it felt so so so good to be exploring a new place!

After hostels, couch surfing and sleeping in airports, a real life hotel felt so luxurious!

Navy Pier.Bridge by famous architect, Frank Gehry.Cloud Gate or “The Bean” by Anish Kapoor.  Even though this area is a huge tourist trap, it was actually a favorite moment – this sculpture is way cool.I’m a sucker for modern art museums so we had to go into The Art Institute of Chicago.Georges Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte. The Asian room was actually a favorite – especially the Indian sculptures – so fascinating – I wanna go someday!Georgia O’Keefe and Edward Hopper.I always love me some Lichtenstein. Rothko – Robert Rauschenberg – Francis Bacon = more favorites. Some silly hot sauces at a yummy cajun restaurant!I’m really in love with the architecture of the above ground metro.  So grungy cool.We had about 5 meals a day just to squeeze in SOME of the yumminess Chicago has to offer – hot dogs!We went to the zoo – its free! This was after demolishing a pizza.Hip hip hooray for Chicago.  We had a blast in that city, cannot wait to go back for a longer stay!
