Courtney and Newton’s spring Mackey House wedding might have had some rain, but they didn’t mind! This sweet couple was so excited to get married, and have their family and friends with them. They met back in 2017 when Courtney was an intern in Manhattan, and Newton was a recent West Point graduate. They both had a mutual friend, and met when Courtney invited their mutual friend out for drinks, and suggested he bring some friends, Newton came along, and they have been together ever since! For their engagement session, we took photos at Wormsloe and Tybee Island. It allowed us to get two different parts of Savannah, from the Spanish moss to the soft ocean tide!
The couple chose The Mackey House for their ceremony and reception for their spring wedding. The Mackey House is a beautiful indoor and outdoor venue, that features beautiful gardens, and covered spaces for both ceremony and reception. Their first look was outside of the main house, and their reactions were so sweet! They were both in tears, and Newton was so happy to see his bride. Their ceremony took place under the covered outdoor pavilion, with the reception on their large deck.
Courtney was working at Urban Poppy at the time, so their flowers were gorgeous! Courtney loves color, so for the flowers, she chose hot pinks, yellows, and red. The colors tied in perfectly with Newton’s military blues and looked great at They Mackey House! For the reception, they chose touches of hot pink, with lots of greenery and color. Even their cake was covered in bright flowers!
Courtney wore the Taylor gown by Rebecca Schoneveld, which is a fresh take on a classic silhouette! It featured a sheer illusion back, embroidered lace bodice with sheet detail, and a satin A-line skirt that flowed in the breeze – and made for gorgeous pictures! I loved the split detail in the skirt too – it helps with the warm Savannah weather.
Newton is in the Army, so the couple made sure to have special and fun details to represent that. Their favors were Army Men, as a reminder for guests to pray for those in service. Since some of Newton’s friends couldn’t be there, Courtney created cardboard head cutouts for his friends that were already deported. It was such a fun touch, and made for such cute pictures! It was the perfect memento to their friends who couldn’t be there on their wedding day.
