Happy Halloween weekend! I know I’m not supposed to have favorites, but Ingrid and Juan and their Halloween wedding last year on Jekyll Island definitely hold a special place in my little heart. I’ve been waiting a whole year to show off their magical, mystical day. Now that the season is appropriate, I finally can!
When you have two creative, old souls who’d rather have a date in a cemetery than at the movies, you know you’re going to be in for a spooky treat. Plus, I just love couples that create their wedding to reflect who they are, no matter how different, quirky or unusual. I say, bring on the strange!
Ingrid drew her inspiration from Day of the Dead and Marie Antoinette, creating a visual feast of the macabre, color and whimsy. From her skeleton dress hanger to her golden bunny heels, every detail was perfect.
Their ceremony backdrop reads “Till Death Do Us Part.”
Ingrid designed a beautiful booklet explaining all of the rituals and symbols used in their ceremony – in Spanish and English. As a silly surprise, a friend dressed in a bear costume delivered the wedding bands – it was hysterical and perfect. Who needs a toddler ring bearer when you can have an adult ring BEAR!?After the ceremony, we stole away to driftwood beach where we created some of the most ethereal portraits. Most of all, I love this image because it speaks to me and my brand like none other. Ingrid, you mystical pink haired creature, you get me.A halloween wedding isn’t complete without a heavy dose of skull decor and the prettiest Day of the Dead cake you ever saw. The cake design was inspired by the bridesmaids’ beautiful red dresses :)The reception was full of darkly beautiful elements and significant touches, especially these custom temporary tattoos of the couple and their pets.Ingrid and Juan – words cannot describe to you enough how lucky I am to have met you and to have shared in this day. I am a lucky girl. Keeping up with you on instagram is a treat and I promise one of these trips to Boston will be for you!
