Julie & Nick Wedding part 1 – Ramsey House – Knoxville, TN

April 26, 2011

I am so absolutely excited to share my favorite wedding EVER!  My dear friend Julie Roberts married Nicholas Solon on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Julie is a fellow wedding photographer (she photographed mine and Martin’s wedding) so I felt especially honored to be such an important part of her day.  Julie is an amazing person and it was so special to be with her while she married her best friend.

Julie and Nick met roughly two years ago and I can say firsthand that Ive seen how he has changed her life.  She takes more time for herself and also focuses on her other talents (dancing and pottery amongst other things) and she just radiates because she has someone that loves her so deeply and immensely and unconditionally.  I love that love makes you a better person and allows you to really LIVE!  Nick is also a super talented guy himself.  He co-owns the company, BrokenFork Design, and transforms old fixer uppers into charming and very creative houses.  Its based in Lexington, KY and Ive told him Im moving there just so I can live in one of his houses.  Nick, you are so awesome and Im so glad that you found Julie!  Im so excited to have you in my life now too ;)

The wedding took place at the historic Ramsey House, one of my favorite locations around Knoxville.

Julie LOVES her puppies so obviously they had to be there, duh!

These are their invitations that Julie custom designed combining their engagement pictures with this lovely tree, a meaningful symbol that is repeated throughout the wedding.  They were printed through Millers Professional Imaging.

Just one reason Nick is so awesome? He knew that Julie was too special for a typical diamond.  He wanted a ring that had a story behind it so he searched and searched until he found the perfect French antique ring circa 1890 through a dealer in Belgium.  Men, take note! Putting thought into gifts for your lady and paying attention to her style goes a LONG way!  Good job Nick :) And I love that his ring has special meaning too, he made it in highschool! Julie bought this adorable vow book through Etsy seller Bragging Bags.

Julie loves cameos and they were the inspiration behind the colors for her wedding.  LOVE LOVE LOVE! The cameo earrings have special meaning to Julie – they belonged to her Granny.  The darling shoes are from Anthropologie.  And the AMAZING Colleen, owner of White Orchid Bridal in Knoxville, made the sash.  Colleen really is simply amazing.  I am a bit obsessed with her boutique.  She restores and revamps vintage pieces and will custom make you anything from a wedding dress to a veil or hair piece, you name it.  And her creations are stunning, I pretty much want to live in her store!

Julie found her lacey Alfred Angelo gown at the Gilded Gown in Knoxville and Colleen created wow factor by adding the lace collar.

As always, Lisa Foster did an incredible job with the florals.  Im pretty sure this bouquet is hands down the prettiest thing Ive laid my eyes on!  Succulents, peonies and ranunculus? Plus the hanging ameranthus and the twine?  To die for!!!!  Lisa is without a doubt the most talented floral designer in the area!

This pendant was her something blue – a very special gift from Nick’s mom.  It belonged to his great, great grandmother Grace.

Mr. Bailey hanging out during brunch!  All of the delicious food was provided by Julie’s mom and her friend Jackie.  They did an amazing job!!

Sara Arms, Julie’s second shooter, did her hair.  Isn’t it super fab? Love the tiny braid!  And Claire Balest did an awesome job with the makeup.  She is the sweetest thing and I can’t wait to work with her again in the future!

Julie and Nick chose to see each other before the ceremony, which I highly recommend!  This makes for such a chill, low stress day so you can just enjoy each other and your guests.

LOVE this picture with her Mamaw!

Sadie has had a real time this past year with some health problems so I know it was super special for Julie to have her there with her.

Colleen also made this adorable headband.  You see? Everything this girl touches is just fantastic!

Julie’s neice Emma.  Julie’s mom, Melinda, made her dress, can you believe it? I can see where Julie gets all of her creativity from!  The basket is also from Bragging Bags.

Julie’s nephews – Thomas, Cole and Eli.  Their vests and hats are from The Children’s Place and this ring nest is from Etsy seller Which Goose.

Melinda also made all the bow ties – for Nick, the boys and Bailey!  I really want her to teach me!

Nick is so handsome! I love his suit from Dillards, Im a big fan of stripes!

As you already know, Im a complete sucker for bow ties.

Julie gave him this pocket watch as a wedding gift.  Its also from Etsy, seller Talulabelles.

And here is Julie in all her bridal splendor!!!  She’s so pretty!!

I really like this one that Martin captured.

Nick, Im not sure how those eyes don’t just swallow you up!

Hmmmm swoon!

Another great moment by Martin!

Love Love Love.  This is just too sweet.

Favorite!

Look at Julie in the picture on the left, love the sass!

Julie’s sweet sweet family.

And Nick’s fabulous family!

And finally, I have to include a picture of us together!

Soon, Ill be posting part 2 with yummy pictures from the ceremony and the reception!! So check back!  Also, Julie will posting in depth about her whole planning process, follow her on her blog!
