What do you get when you have a groom who loves all things America, and a stylish bride who wanted custom elements? The coolest, and most incredible red, white and blue wedding – in October! Ryan and Mary Kate had a gorgeous wedding at The Plantation Club in The Landings that was all things fantastic. Ryan loves all things America – the 4th of July is his favorite holiday – so his one request during wedding planning wasthat they had a red, white and blue wedding.
Knowing they’d be walking a fine line of fantastic and corny, Mary Kate brought the idea to Audrey Wagner King of French Knot Studios & The King’s Cottage – a brilliant designer and stylist in Savannah. Audrey was able to soften the palette by using reds, burgundy, peaches, light blue with a touch of navy. By taking this traditional American color palette, but adding some deeper and pastel hues, Audrey was able to make it stunning.
The bridesmaids wore sparkly sequined burgundy dresses, that were the perfect fall shade, while still having the patriotic theme. The groomsmen wore navy suits with star and striped bowties, and of course, they had American flag socks! Mary Kate wore an incredible sequined dress by Blush by Hayley Paige, purchased from Ivory and Beau here in Savannah. It had the perfect amount of sparkle, and a unique Marrakesh beaded lace.
Audrey made sure the bouquets and flowers had plenty of white anemones, deep burgundy flowers, and soft blue. It combined the feel of a fall wedding, with the joy of a summer celebration!
Ryan and Mary Kate married at The Landings, a beautiful private golf community in Savannah with the areas iconic oak trees. Mary Kate works for the local handbag design company, Satchel, so her wedding bag was a custom blue python clutch stamped with the same golf course & American flag used on the leather koozies at the reception. I have been photographing Satchel’s lookbooks for years, and I have had the joy of photographing some of their weddings! Mary Kate is my 3rd Satchelette wedding!
And what’s an American themed wedding without pizazz of some kind!? Instead of sparklers, we used smoke bombs for some killer wedding party photos! We also made sure to have an American flag for some photos, to tie it all together. The reception was a perfect mix of navy tables, gold accents, and lots of beautiful flowers. Instead of a normal cake, they had a mini cake to cut into, with a tower of donuts below! I hope you enjoy this fun wedding as much as I do!
