2022 Wedding Trends: Wedding Gowns

February 8, 2022

To prepare for the 2022 wedding season, we’re wanted to dig into wedding trends that we love! We’ve already talked about bridal bouquets, and now we wanted to highlight some amazing wedding gowns! One of the most significant parts of the wedding day is fashion! There are so many ways to style your wedding day or elopement from suits to gowns. After a year on pause, designers are making bold strides in design and making wedding day looks more unique.

To select our wedding gowns, we worked with the team at The Sentimentalist in Atlanta. This boutique is one of my favorites in Atlanta! They are known for their unique designers and selection of incredible vintage gowns. Many of their designers are USA-based, and they use sustainable methods to create their wedding dresses.

Bridal Separates

Bridal separates have slowly become more and more popular, and it’s one of my favorite trends! Separates allow you to swap out tops and bottoms to create a fully customized look. Plus, it allows you to swap out pieces for two looks in one! You can wear a shorter skirt for the reception, or change from a long-sleeved top to a short-sleeved one.

For our bride Simone, we used pieces by Carol Hannah. Known for her incredible drape work, and modern take on patterns, her bridal separates allow you to mix and match to create the perfect look. We chose the Basilica top with her Mulberry Anthurium Print Organza skirt to create a textured and one-of-a-kind look. The silk satin-faced organza allowed for gorgeous fullness and effortless moments.

Pattern

Colorful gowns continue to be on-trend, and in 2022, you are going to start seeing it in patterned gowns! From soft pastels to bold black and white, patterns are a great way to add some color. When selecting a colored gown, make sure to pair it with other elements of your day. For our bride, Simone, we chose the Mulberry Anthurium Print Organza skirt by Carol Hannah. The black and white pattern added a subtle nod of color and was tied into the decor with all white flowers. Orchids and baby’s breath were the focus of the wedding day design, with hints of modern black in the invitations.

Ruffles

Romantic Ruffles have been all over the runway, from Fashion Week to New York Bridal Fashion Week. For our romantic look, Meck wore the Ezra gown by Daughters of Simone. A bohemian-inspired designer, the sisters behind Daughters Of Simone love to play with unique fabrics and texture to create one-of-a-kind gowns with incredible trains. The Ezra gown has a playful ruffled back, with a subtle three-tiered ruffled skirt that was garnished with pleating. The train was a showstopper and floated gracefully behind our bride.

Statement Sleeves

One of the biggest trends for 2022 is volume. From oversized ruffles and skirts to billowing sleeves, it’s all about a hint of drama! Caroline wore the Angelina Gown by One Styled Bride, which featured sheer bishop cuffed sleeves and gorgeous button details. This wedding gown featured yards of chiffon that created a flowing skirt, with an illusion top that had buttons go all the way down the back. While buttons have been around for a while, gowns in 2022 are seeing them being used in unique ways, including over sheet panels and on the cuffs.

Bold Pearl Earrings

While the necklace used to be the must-have bridal accessory, more and more couples are choosing to swap them out for earrings! Stunning earrings can bring attention to your face, and add in a subtle sparkle or touch of color. For our brides, we chose a trending stone for 2022 – pearls. Caroline wore white daisy earrings with pearl details, while Simonne wore simple pearl studs. For Meck, a pair of pearl earrings in the perfect shade of luminescent ivory completed her look.
