Wesley is a friend of a past bride, Taylor, for whom he acted as coordinator for her Decatur wedding. He and his partner were getting married in Savannah and so he chose me to be his photographer for their epic two-day wedding weekend in Savannah! Shaun always wanted a very small, intimate wedding and Wesley knew he wanted a big party – so they did the best of both worlds, creating a huge surprise for their guests. Only their wedding party was in on the surprise!
The couple had a formal rehearsal cocktail hour, where a handful of their closest family and friends celebrated the couple. But in the middle of the cocktail hour, they had an announcement. They were taking their guests on a classic tour of Downtown Savannah, to Forsyth Park.
Little did the guest know, but they were on their way to Forsyth Park for their ACTUAL wedding ceremony! The ceremony took place in front of the fountain, which is where they got engaged. Under a canopy of Spanish moss and golden sunlight, the two said their vows in front of their nearest and dearest.
After the ceremony and some family photos, they had a beautiful intimate dinner at Repeal33, which was where they had their first date together in Savannah. It was so touching to capture them at places that mean so much to them. These two re-created their first date and their proposal! It was such a beautiful afternoon.
The next day, we ran through all of the typical wedding day activities like getting ready. The two were dressed to perfection, with gorgeous custom suits that looked amazing on them. Even though the two had said their vows the day before, they were so excited to be together. They kept leaning on each other and giving the other sweet kisses.
After, we boarded a trolley for a 2-hour photo tour around downtown during which we stopped for bites and drinks at New Realm. I wanted to use their upstairs rooms for photos because the gorgeous interior decor matched their wedding vibe so well.
Meanwhile, at The Morris Center, all of the guests were enjoying a gorgeous cocktail hour on the lawn, thinking that they were waiting for the ceremony to begin. They got brought into the reception space, and they found out that Wesley and Shaun were already married!
Ivory And Beau worked to make sure every detail was taken care of, and designed to perfection. They transformed Charles H Morris Center into an indoor garden, filled with lush greenery and gold accents! It was both luxurious, and romantic.
The guests were shown an emotional video of the ceremony from the day before. It was so moving and sweet! Then the couple got introduced, and the evening went right into dinner and a major party! There were so many cute moments, but one of my favorites was when during one of the toasts, the sister instead got everyone to sing “Thank You for Being a Friend!”
Wesley and Shaun’s two-day wedding weekend in Savannah was just amazing, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it. Meeting new couples and getting to be a part of their day is always such a joy. Especially when they decide to do something so unique! I’d love to hear from you and learn all about your own wedding plans!
