Inspired by baroque sensibility, this editorial shoot at The Alida Hotel is one of my favorites from 2019! I teamed up with Audrey at The Kings Cottage, who designed the most mesmerizing shoot. Baroque sensibility is all about highly ornate details, with extravagant architecture, deep colors, and a sense of awe. Both Audrey and I are so inspired by this style, which made this shoot so much fun!
The venue was The Alida Hotel, a modern hotel in Downtown Savannah, right on River Street. This hotel mixes deep wood tones, with bright and airy light, and lots of places to explore. The colors were a mix of mustard yellow, crisp creams, peaches, and reds. It’s the perfect fall palette, with a touch of vintage flair.
August Designs absolutely floored us with her creative magic! Not only was the stunning bouquet filled with unique flowers, like lunaria and milkweed, but the floral design was carried seamlessly throughout the shoot. Lunaria is becoming a huge trend in flowers, and are a silverly white seed pod that adds so much texture. Kim from August Designs turned the room into a stunning floral display, with organic floral arrangements throughout the space, some even running up the walls and pillars.
Baroque Shoot at The Alida Hotel
With a shoot as detailed as this one, having great fashion was a must! We used two Martina Liana gowns from Bleuebelle Bridal, in Savannah. The first gown was a stunning lace gown with all-over beading, detailed straps, and low back. The second gown was a gown covered in lace appliqués, with off the shoulder straps, and the most beautiful train! Our second bride wore a lace long-sleeved gown, with intricate lace throughout. Instead of a traditional veil, our bride wore a gorgeous crown by Fallen Aristocrat. Our groom wore a Marigold tux from The Black Tux, with a Cameo pin instead of a floral boutonniere.
The stationery was handmade by Cake Papier, a local artist in Savannah. They included hand-written calligraphy, butterfly details, and vintage stamps. There were also matching menus, and hand made paper place-cards. No detail was overlooked!
