Have you considered a Ford Field & River Club wedding? Picture a destination wedding at one of Savannah’s most luxurious venues. A wedding venue steeped in history and old-world charm. With the Ogeechee River brushing up along its verdant green grass, the marsh dancing in the wind, and a sun setting beautifully over the entire scene.
Can you picture it?
More importantly, can you picture yourself there? At your outdoor wedding with a tented reception, with wedding guests laughing and breathing in that sweet southern air, all celebrating your big day.
Henry Ford once looked upon this land, and much like he changed the state of the automobile industry, he changed the state of this land. Purchasing it in 1927, he vowed to his lovely wife Clara that he would build her a winter retreat on the land. A vow he kept.
Henry Ford made his stamp on Savannah and built a luxurious winter resort for him and his wife. Fast-forward to today, the Ford and Field River Club is one of the most sought-after venues. It is perfect for all upscale and luxury events. It is home to its own Marina, Ogeechee Outfitters Marina, an oyster house, its own restaurant, Lake Dye Grill, and enough land to get lost on for miles while enjoying the peace and solitude of a southern night sky.
This stunning venue of Richmond Hill is truly mesmerizing.
I know what you’re thinking. “Izzy, you said this was a Savannah Venue. Where is Richmond Hill?”
Richmond Hill is a community located on the outskirts of Savannah, GA. It’s outside the major city, so it’s nice, low-country land full of scenic views and home to the Ford Field & River Club.
A venue like this requires time to relax, explore the grounds, and use the amenities. This is why I always suggest my couples make plans for a full wedding weekend here.
Your rehearsal dinner can be held at the Lake Dye Grill, a wonderfully beautiful restaurant on the water with room for cocktails and glee.
Then, for your wedding ceremony, it is difficult to pass up the opportunity to say your “I Dos” while overlooking the Ogeechee in the 4 o’clock sun. You’ll find beautiful rays of light casting down and blessing your union – perfect in both spring and fall. The breeze coming off the water will keep you nice and cool.
(Don’t believe everything you hear about the South’s heat.)
As I mentioned before, plan for a tent wedding. You’ll want to utilize the lawn and watch the sun dip behind the river. The stars replace it, glittering the night sky like gems upon a raven gown.
Finally, you can’t forget about your post-wedding brunch. It’s a gorgeous send-off for you and your guests, and it’s over Mimosas, of course.
If you’re curious about Ford Field & River Club hosting your incredible wedding, please do not hesitate to reach out. I absolutely adore this location and would love to talk you through the process of making it where you tie the knot.
