Katie and Noah, Atlanta residents, wanted a location that had not only romance and history, but also personal family history for the bride. Katie’s uncle owns one of the most iconic buildings in Savannah, which happens to also be one of Savannah’s most well known antique shops. Many brides have taken pictures on the front steps of this establishment or underneath its wrought iron railings. As a result, this time it was way more meaningful! As a wedding photographer, I love being able to get shots that have a family history behind them.
Just around the corner from the antique shop, the ceremony took place at Congregation Mickve Israel. Simple vining greenery spotted with white blooms covered the front railing as well as one side of the chuppah. The bride and groom incorporated family heirlooms into their ceremony. The family heirlooms included kiddish cups and tallis used to decorate the chuppah. Old Town Trolley took guests from the ceremony to the reception.
For the reception, Katie and Noah wanted a venue that showcased everything they love about Savannah. Rather than selecting a venue in the historic district, they opted for The Westin Harbor Savannah. Guests dined on the lawn overlooking the iconic Savannah skyline and the River Street streetscape. Cafe lights twinkling above all the tables added to the starry night. Below the warm glow of lights, natural wood farm tables were draped in taupe cheesecloth. The tables featured elongated floral arrangements in seasonal colors that stretched the length of the table. Alternating among the farm tables were round tables with taupe linens and lush central floral arrangements.
To bring in a touch of Autumn, the decor in the ballroom had accents with a hint of burnt orange. After dinner, guests transitioned to inside the ballroom. Large trees were moved inside, in order to bring a bit of the charm of Savannah into the ballroom. Furthermore, Katie and Noah now have found new memories that they can add to their Savannah history.
