As a wedding photographer, I see so many weddings, but Alex and Jordan’s Westin Savannah wedding was one for the books! It was a gorgeous day full of exceptional and colorful details. Alex has a master’s from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and she was inspired by the beautiful city where she went to school and first fell in love with Jordan. She wanted to create a completely unique wedding aesthetic. Alex also wanted to cultivate an exclusive and thoughtful experience for their guests. She succeeded on both fronts!
Alex worked with Nina Raynor Boutique for her two wedding day looks. Her custom ceremony dress featured a striking feature collar, a detail that she collaborated with designer Lourdes Chavez on. She wanted to have a hint of lavender in her gown, so the lining was a soft purple, which really made the lace details pop. For her reception, Alex wanted a striking look for dancing. She decided on a red, show-stopper gown. Both looks were absolutely gorgeous! I love that she played with color and texture to create one-of-a-kind looks!
Every wedding day experience starts with the stationery, and Alex commissioned watercolor save-the-dates that featured the classic Savannah riverfront views her guests would enjoy at their reception. Then, during cocktail hour, Savannah’s best celebrity impersonators entertained the guests (even the iconic Forrest Grump was there!)
After cocktail hour, guests found their seats through hand-painted Talavera tiles. Oranges with their names written on them in calligraphy marked their place. This was all on top of a curated menu meant to provide the guests with a taste of Italian family roots, Savannah, and the coast. Every detail had careful thought put into it, creating an amazing experience for their guests.
For their wedding day, Alex chose a color palette of pumpkin, lavender, and blueberry. She, along with Tara Skinner Events, carried this design through every aspect of the wedding. Their orange Talavera stationery, day-of paper products, and signage matched the custom-made dance floor and tent fabrics. The bountiful added florals helped turn the lawn of The Westin into a unique and colorful event. All in all, it was a whimsical, orange dreamscape, right down to the custom wedding cakes and desserts!
Alex and Jordan’s wedding at The Westin was an absolutely fantastic day, and I’m so joyful that I got to be a part of it. As Alex told me, her goal was “to create a wedding aesthetic that people had never seen before!” And I have to say, she accomplished that goal!
If you’re planning your own fantastic Savannah wedding at The Westin, I’d love to hear all about it! Say hello, and let’s start putting together your dream day.
