I absolutely love being able to shoot family sessions – especially when it’s to celebrate a little one’s birthday! Last year I got to photograph Beowulf’s one year birthday session in Downtown Savannah. You might remember her parents, Brandy and Quinn, from their Summer Engagement Party Shoot! This sweet couple is always such a joy to shoot. Brandy used to be the head chef at Local 11 Ten, but now has her own personal chef company, Chef Williamson.
The couple adore Beowulf, and wanted to make sure they had a shoot to celebrate her birthday! Birthdays are a great time for family shoots since you get to mark a milestone. You can look back and see every single year, and see your family as it grows over the years.
We started their session in Orleans Square. This square is right by Harper Fowkles House, one of my favorite wedding and elopement spots. Brandy and Quinn wanted the shoot to not feel too posed, and be all about the three of them. I loved that they went right on the ground, and played with baby Beowulf! It really let me get the best smiles and laughs of all three of them. We walked around the square, and made sure to get some pictures on the moss-covered steps. There are so many beautiful houses around Orleans Square, that have the best steps for pictures! Beowulf had so much fun during her session – she couldn’t stop laughing and smiling!
I am adding more dates for family sessions, especially as Savannah and Athens begin to open up. If you are looking for some family portraits this summer, from birthdays to couples sessions, I would love to be your photographer! This is such a perfect time to capture your family, especially as we get out of quarantine.
