Sarah and Benjamin both went to UGA, and they now live in Athens. They met while working on St. Simons Island where she was the editor for a local paper, and he was hired as the sports reporter. Sarah met my associate photographer, Hannah, because she interned for the newspaper at UGA. Hannah served as the primary photographer for their wedding at A.W. Jones Heritage Center, and she did an amazing job!
Sarah wore a classic trumpet-style gown by designer Ann Barge from The White Magnolia bridal boutique in Savannah. The structured strapless trumpet gown had a modern neckline and gorgeous buttons down the back.
Sarah’s bouquet was so unique! She chose an all-white tulip bouquet with magnolia leaves. The bridesmaids also had all-white tulip bouquets, which looked beautiful against their blush dresses. They all got ready at the Jekyll Island Club Resort, which is such a great getting-ready spot.
The reception was at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center, and the ceremony was supposed to be in front of the St. Simons Island Lighthouse, but it rained that day! Hannah communicated with the bride before arriving to say they should just go ahead and be ready when Hannah got there. This would ensure that they still do their First Look outside and get their bride and groom portraits done. Then, they worked backward and did getting ready shots after. It’s such a wonderful story that shows the benefits of trusting your photographer and being super flexible on the wedding day!
St. Simons Island is such a beautiful place to get married because you’re surrounded by the ocean and gorgeous live oaks’ moss. Sarah and Benjamin had an amazing wedding with such cute details. One of my favorites was their chosen dessert. Instead of having a large cake, this couple chose a mini wedding cake and lots of Dunkin’ Donuts! I love it when couples pick fun desserts, and doughnuts are always a crowd-pleaser!
