Cuenca and Castilla – La Mancha, Spain

February 28, 2011

Last weekend Martin and I packed into a rental car with our roomie Sriroop and our friend Jordan and we took a road trip down to Castilla-La Mancha.  On Saturday the weather was still gray and rainy but on Sunday the weather was divine and the country side was just beautiful.  I wish I had taken more pictures but pulling the car over is sometimes no easy feat so I just relaxed and enjoyed all the beautiful colors.  Our first stop was Cuenca which is famous for its hanging houses on the sides of the mountains.  I never tire of the architecture in Europe.  Just look at the beautiful arches and doorways!

Usually I complain and gnash my teeth when the weather is gray and poopy because my pictures arent as pretty but I think the gray atmosphere here makes these pictures seem more mysterious!

Here are the hanging houses.

After Cuenca, we drove around in search of the windmills made so famous by Don Quixote.  The windmills were so whimsical and dreamy, I had so much fun photographing them!  Id love to do a styled session here, wouldnt they make a perfect backdrop?

A portrait of the boys.

This is just an example of the amazing country views we had while driving, just take in those colors!!

And here’s a little picture of me in what Martin says is my natural habitat – with a glass of wine!

I hope wherever you are you are starting to see signs of Spring! And don’t forget you can follow us and our travels on the travel blog.
