The Lamson family came to our beautiful city for vacation, and they wanted to get family photos while they were here. When they reached out for family photography, of course, I said yes because I love a good family session in downtown Savannah! It’s always so much fun to walk around my beloved city and photograph a lovely family. The Lamsons were no exception! Their son was adorable, and there is so much joy in their photos.
Our family session started at The Garden of Fragrance inside Forsyth Park. This garden is a little gem hidden inside the park, close to the playgrounds and bandshell. It has limited open hours, but it’s one of the best-hidden secrets in Savannah. Because it has walls on three of its sides, you can really smell the roses when you enter, hence the name! The entrance to the garden is enhanced by beautiful iron gates from the Old Union Station. Inside is also a small fountain and small parterre, with some seating. It’s a quiet little escape from a very busy park! So, it was the perfect place to start our photoshoot.
After getting some gorgeous photos in The Garden of Fragrance, we went into Forsyth Park proper and got some photos with the fountain. The fountain always makes for an amazing background for photos, from family sessions to engagement sessions to elopements!
Finally, we went to SCAD’s Ruskin Hall. It’s such a great spot for photographs that I love holding sessions there! It was originally built in 1819, and it’s got the perfect amount of splendor and charm for taking photographs. For the Lamsons’ family session in downtown Savannah, we made sure to take photos of all the pairs, including mom and dad by themselves, and a few photos of their cute son by himself.
It was such a great day to walk around downtown with the Lamsons. I’m so glad I got to meet them on their vacation!
Here at Izzy + Co, we love creating those family memories through photos! One of our offerings is mini-sessions, during which you can get some beautiful family heirlooms! These happen twice a year, and are always popular. They are a quick 20-30 minutes, and let you document your family year after year. Our associate photographer, Wendy, is holding a holiday mini-session in downtown Savannah in Johnson Square and at The Olde Pink House on November 13th! You can see more details and sign up here!
