When picking a spot for your elopement in Savannah, there are so many options to chose from! So far, I’ve shared my Top 5 Elopement Venues in Savannah, and my Top 5 Savannah Squares. And today I want to share my Top 5 Hidden Savannah Spots To Elope! These are some hidden gems that are perfect for an elopement, or an intimate wedding.
Bay Street has some of the BEST spots for portraits! And it’s often overlooked by couples! The bridges that cross from Bay Street to River Street have beautiful trees and flowers year-round. And there are plenty of cool historic buildings for portrait backdrops. One of the best ones? The Cotton Exchange! Built in 1887, this was the center of Savannah’s economy. I just love the beautiful iron railings and red brick.
This charming bed and breakfast is the perfect Elopement spot for a few reasons. One, you can stay right in the home, which has gorgeous antique furniture and rooms. Many of the rooms have fireplaces and patios! Built in 1878, The Dresser Palmer House is an Italianate mansion and has immaculate gardens for your elopement. It also has the longest front porch in Downtown Savannah!
If you are looking for a gorgeous elopement with a Southern Feel, but want to avoid the crowds at Forsyth Park, you need to check out the Forsyth Park Inn! Located just steps from the famous square, it is a must-see. The Victorian Queen Ann style is just so pretty. And, they have a beautiful hidden garden, which is perfect for a private ceremony. They also have elopement packages, where you can get the private garden, bouquet, and cake!
Bethesda Academy is located just outside of Downtown Savannah, about 15 minutes away. It is the perfect secluded spot for a couple who don’t want lots of tourists around. One of the best chapels in Savannah is the Whitefield Chapel, which is right on the grounds. This all brick Chapel was built in 1918 and has the most beautiful picture windows. Everything inside is original – from the pews to the stained glass window! Their grounds are also beautiful, with stunning marsh views.
One of the biggest green spaces in Savannah, this is one of my favorite hidden gems to elope! Located right along the Savannah River, you get peeks of the river, and a lot less foot traffic versus some other Squares. It is right off Bay Street, so you are close to so many dining spots and bars, and hotels! There are also multiple monuments in the park, including The Chatham Artillery Monument and The Celtic Cross Monument. The gorgeous trees provide shade and is one of my favorite spots to take bride and groom portraits.
No matter what style of elopement or intimate wedding you are planning, these are some awesome spots to chose from! Each give you the southern Savannah feel, but with a little more privacy. I have shot weddings at all of these spots, and can help you pick the perfect one! We can talk through your vision, and I can help you pick the right spot for your elopement!
