Carrie and Jens have such a cute history! Jens is from Germany, and the first time they met, Carrie is pretty sure he was supposed to be giving her German lessons. Jens wanted some German comfort food, so they met on the rooftop patio at Der Biergarten in downtown Atlanta. Carrie says that they were able to talk about everything so easily, and they were immediate friends. They watched a distant lightning storm for a little while before he walked her to her car. They’ve been inseparable ever since! Especially with knowing their adorable past, it was so great to be able to shoot their intimate Bonaventure elopement!
Before the elopement comes the cute proposal! The couple planned for a long bike ride on the Silver Comet Trail. Jens was so determined to make sure his plan went off, he even fixed Carrie’s bike breaks for her. After about ten miles, they took a break in the shade. Jens had a backpack full of essentials and was able to provide everything Carrie asked for. When she jokingly asked for candy, he didn’t have any. Instead, he pulled out a ring and said, “But I have this for you instead. Will you marry me?”
After some laughing and crying, the newly engaged couple took a sweaty, happy selfie and began their ten-mile bike back on cloud nine. A picnic in the park ended the perfect day.
Carrie and Jens both live in Atlanta, but they wanted an elopement in Savannah. I’m so glad they chose one of my favorite spots – Bonaventure! Bonaventure is such a perfect spot for an elopement that I’ve actually shot many weddings and elopements there. The trees make for a perfect backdrop too.
After their intimate Bonaventure elopement, we headed downtown to get some more portraits before their dinner with their guests.
Carrie and Jens plan on moving to Germany this year with their cat, Bacardi (named after his favorite rum!) I wish them all the best! Shooting their intimate Bonaventure elopement was a wonderful experience, and I’m always open to wedding/elopement adventures with my couples! Reach out to me, so we can work together!
