Natalee and JJ are very special to me because they were the first couple to book me for Sea Island, and it’s been a dream of mine to photograph weddings there for years! It’s one of the most gorgeous spots in the Golden Isles. Their wedding was supposed to be last Spring, but they rescheduled to this May due to Covid. I was so upset when their new date conflicted with a couple I had already booked. Luckily, Natalee put her total trust in my team, and my Associate Photographer, Hannah, took amazing care of them and their wedding!
I just love Sea Island, and it’s definitely one sought-after venue. Part of a chain of barrier islands, Sea Island has beautiful marshlands and gorgeous coastline. They have a variety of locations to choose from, and each location is luxurious and romantic. As a photographer, there are so many amazing spots we can take portraits and little hidden gems throughout. The best part is that it’s just an hour and a half south of Savannah, so it’s perfect for those looking for a destination wedding that is within driving distance! You get a gorgeous pristine beach, and a garden feel, all in one!
Natalee and JJ collectively have four daughters who made up their wedding party, which I think is so sweet! It was the perfect way for them to bring their family together for the day. The men got ready at the Lodge, and the ladies got ready at The Cloister. So, they had their first look in front of the ruins on the grounds at The Lodge, and they also did some portraits around the Avenue of the Oaks.
The ceremony took place on the Black Banks Lawn overlooking the marsh and river. The reception was nearby at the Sea Island Beach Club. They had a large clear tent for the dance floor, and guests ate dinner in the Ocean Room. The Ocean Room is just so gorgeous. It has tall ceilings, dark beams, and arched windows that give it such a romantic look. Plus, you can’t beat the amazing views of the beach and the ocean!
My favorite part of the wedding was the exit! Natalee and JJ had one of the best exits I have ever seen, and I’ve shot a lot of weddings!
Hannah did an amazing job, and I’m so happy for Natalee and JJ. Their wedding at Sea Island Resort came out so gorgeous. Planning your own Sea Island Resort wedding? I’d love to hear from you! We can help you capture those amazing memories.
