Monica and Tal had one of the most creative and unique editorial engagement sessions I have shot! I love when a couple comes to me wanting something different, and want a shoot that is personal to them. Monica and Tal wanted their poses to be editorial, and straight from a magazine. So instead of focusing on flowing movements, we chose to pose them close and intentional. And while I love shooting this way, admittedly it was difficult to avoid the action & giggle filled moments that I also adore. I love any reason to shoot with a fresh perspective and I’m in total love with these images. We even included their sweet pup for a few of the shots, which are some of my favorites!
For the second half of the engagement session, Monica changed into her mother’s wedding gown. Monica had recently lost her mother to cancer, and she wanted to re-create her mother’s wedding photos as an homage to her. Her mom and dad eloped, and her mom made her own dress. It fit Monica perfectly, which was so special! It was an honor to capture these for her, and for her mother’s memory. Monica only has a handful of photos from her mother’s wedding day. So these will help her share her mother’s memory, and her own wedding memories! As a photographer, capturing these moments are the most important part of what I do. It is not just about honoring the day, but those who made us who we are, and guided us in our lives.
Monica and Tal are getting married this week at Harper Fowkles House and Perry Lane Hotel, and I know it is going to be stunning. I can’t wait to capture some fun and natural moments, as well as some more editorial shots. It is going to be incredible!
