Are you looking to book a newborn session in Athens but don’t know when to do it? Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most beautiful transitions. Those first few weeks are filled with sleepy snuggles, tiny yawns, and a kind of magic that fades all too quickly. As an Athens newborn photographer, one of the most common questions I get from expectant parents is: When should we schedule our newborn session?
The short answer is that it’s never too early to plan ahead. Let’s talk about the best timing for booking and photographing your newborn session so you can capture every beautiful detail of this fleeting chapter.
Because newborn sessions are time-sensitive, I recommend booking at least two to three months before your due date. This helps ensure availability on my calendar and gives us time to plan your session with care. We can discuss your vision, styling, and location so everything feels perfectly aligned when your baby arrives.
Once your little one is here, the days tend to blur together. Having your session already scheduled takes away the stress of trying to coordinate something last minute. I’ll reserve a flexible window around your due date so that no matter when baby decides to arrive, your session will be secure.
Many of my clients choose to book their newborn session when they schedule their maternity portraits. It’s a wonderful way to keep the experience seamless and ensure both milestones are beautifully documented (and don’t forget you can always sign up for the first year collective to capture all of your baby’s precious milestones!).

When it comes to a newborn session in Athens, the best time to photograph your newborn is within the first two weeks after birth, ideally between five and fourteen days old. During this window, babies are usually very sleepy and naturally curl up into those cozy poses that everyone loves.
This stage also captures their newborn softness and tiny details. Their fuzzy hair, delicate skin, and those sweet little fingers and toes are still so fresh. These sessions tend to be calm and quiet, allowing us to focus on connection and emotion.
However, it’s never too late to photograph your baby. I’ve captured newborn sessions as late as two to three months old, and they are just as special in a different way. Older babies are more awake and alert. They often begin to smile, show their personalities, and interact with the world around them. Whether your baby is two weeks or two months old, the goal remains the same: to preserve this beautiful season of growth and love.
My newborn sessions are designed to be easygoing and comfortable for both baby and parents. I take a lifestyle approach, focusing on natural interactions rather than posed perfection. You might be snuggling on the couch, rocking your baby in the nursery, or simply breathing in those quiet newborn cuddles.
I’ll gently guide you through the process while keeping everything relaxed and flexible. (Plus, you’ll have access to my client closet as well as complimentary hair and makeup). We take plenty of breaks for feeding, diaper changes, or comforting, and I follow your baby’s pace. Most sessions last around one and a half to two hours, giving us enough time to capture both candid moments and classic portraits.
Your baby’s first year is full of incredible transformations. From those early sleepy days to their first smiles, giggles, and wobbly steps, every moment tells a story. That’s why I created The First Year Collective, a collection of sessions that documents your baby’s journey through their first twelve months.
This series often includes your maternity, newborn, six-month, and one-year sessions. It tells the complete story of your baby’s first year and your family’s growth together. I love connecting with families in this way and watching little ones grow through each milestone. It allows you to relax, knowing every chapter of this season is beautifully preserved.
Whether you are expecting your first baby or welcoming another little love, I would be honored to capture this chapter for you. As an Athens newborn photographer, I know how quickly these early moments change and how special they are to remember.
