New Venue: Forbes Farm

I am so excited to share St. Simons Islands’ newest venue, Forbes Farm! Not only is this venue incredible, with some unique features you are going to love, but it has such a great backstory. As a wedding photographer serving the Low Country, I love being able to tour new venues and get an inside look at the gorgeousness.

When Michelle’s daughter was struggling to find a wedding venue on St. Simons Island, Michelle decided she was just going to build her a venue! Her husband’s a contractor, so they made plans to build an amazing new venue on St. Simons Island called Forbes Farm. They chose a perfect piece of land with a marsh view so that it could cater to both indoor and outdoor events.

Naturally, it took longer than anticipated to build, so it wasn’t ready for her daughter, but it’s officially open now! I got to photograph Forbes Farm recently, and it’s absolutely gorgeous! I’m so excited to share all the details of this venue.

Forbes Farm Weddings

Forbes Farm is ideal for couples who want a fantastic venue that already has all the amenities, like ample parking and ADA-compliant restrooms, but allows them to make the space their own. There’s more than enough space within Forbes Farm to hold up to 250 people, but they also have eight acres to accommodate tented weddings. You have exclusive use of the property during your event, from morning to 11 PM.

One of the best features is that they have staff available for the entire day of your wedding. So if you are planning a large tented affair on the lawn, your rental companies can come in early to set up, without worrying about adding on additional time to your venue rental. They can also help you lay out the reception floor plan, so you can see what the space will look like on your wedding day. Of course, you will still need a wedding planner to ensure every detail comes together perfectly. But having a venue that is so professionally managed is so important!

Extra Venue Perks

Every single detail was thought about when designing Forbes Farm. The bridal suite is gorgeous, complete with a dressing room, hanging hook for your dress in front of big windows, bathrooms, and hair/makeup stations. It’s perfect for getting ready with your best friends. There’s a second private dressing room, so your partner can get ready in style. They also let you use this space, including the private restrooms, to store your belongings during the wedding day.

Multiple Ceremony and Reception Layouts For Your St. Simon Wedding

One of my favorite parts of this venue is how versatile it is. Not only is their indoor hall gorgeous, with all white walls and soft wood accents, but they offer multiple areas for you to choose from for your day.

For your ceremony, you have three different outdoor wedding ceremony sites. You can have it indoors or outdoors. The two outdoor spaces are beautiful! One faces the marsh, for a coastal feel your guests will love. Or you can select the front lawn, with the venue as your backdrop.

The open-air patio near the marsh is great for cocktail hour, since guests can enjoy the picturesque views. There is also a section in the back that can be used for an oyster roast. This is the perfect southern touch for welcome dinners or your rehearsal dinner.

The indoor reception space is so beautiful and elegant. It has classic chandeliers paired with wooden accents and industrial elements. The on-site built-in bar gives plenty of space for guests to order drinks, so you don’t have to worry about long lines. So, it has tons of character that you can really add to.

The space can easily be transformed from minimal and chic, to romantic and botanical, and everything in between! As a wedding photographer, I love how much natural light the space brings in! The wall-to-wall windows bring in ample lighting, as do the multiple skylights.

I loved being able to see Forbes Farm, and I can’t wait to work there! After all, St. Simons Island is one of my favorite places to photograph, and a new gorgeous venue is just the icing on the cake.
