Sweet Ashley has worked in the wedding industry for years, and we’ve grown to be friends that way. So, I was absolutely honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding. You might remember this couple from their engagement session at Fort Pulaski and their home! Ashley and Davis built their home on a gorgeous piece of property that so beautifully served as their wedding location. And it was so fun to shoot both their engagement session and wedding at their home since it’s a place they will cherish forever. Their outdoor wedding was such a fun affair, and I was overjoyed to be a part of it!
Ashley and Davis really transformed their private home into the perfect wedding venue. The ceremony took place in front of a gorgeous giant oak covered in Spanish moss, which is one of the couple’s favorite spots on the property. They didn’t even need any extra décor for their ceremony because their backdrop was already so beautiful. They did have a live wedding painter there, which guests always love to watch. It’s such a great way to have art made on site, and it’s amazing to watch it go from sketch to finished product! The ceremony itself was full of joy and laughter. There’s clearly so much love between this couple, and they spent the whole day just beaming!
Of course, their dogs had to be part of the day! The two love their pups, so we made sure to include them in some portraits. They also had their dogs as part of the reception with specialty drinks named after them, and fun illustrations at the bar.
For the reception, they set up a tent in the backyard. They strung a million lights throughout their trees to create the dreamiest backyard wedding experience. They utilized white and different shades of blue throughout their wedding. The bridesmaids all wore blue dresses of different shades, and Ashley’s bouquet featured white roses with pops of blue. This floral scheme was carried through the reception, with dusty blue linens and gold accents. Large White and Blue porcelain vases were used on the long tables, which were filled with hydrangeas.
When guests arrived, they were treated by a large display with pictures of family members and loved ones. It was such a personal touch to the reception, which was all about their family and friends. Their wedding day was an unusually freezing day in Spring, and it was so windy! So, the guests didn’t enjoy the outdoor wedding as everyone hoped, but they still made merry! Everyone snuggled up under the tent and around the fire pits, and it was so much fun despite the weather. I always love to see when guests are just happy to be able to celebrate the newly married couple. Everyone’s priority was having fun and making sure Ashley and Davis’s day was perfect.
There’s nothing better than a springtime outdoor wedding (even if it turns out so cold!). I loved being able to photograph my dear friend on the happiest day of her life. Making friends through weddings is the best, and I would love for us to be friends! Say hello and tell me all about your upcoming wedding day!
