Weekend Recap

June 17, 2013

I just got home today from a weekend spent visiting friends and family in Durham, NC.  While the drive is a pain, I love being close enough to able to hop up for a few days.

One of my very good friends, Cilla, threw a “Follow me down the rabbit hole” Alice in Wonderland themed party for her birthday.   Naturally, I came with vintage hats and hookahs in tow!  I thought she did a fabulous job of decorating and adding cute little details from the book.

My favorite touch was the pink flamingos strapped onto the croquet mallets.  I have clever friends.Cilla – you’re one of my bestest and most loyal friends – I lover you my loveeeeee!!!!

My brother Daniel came in from Boston so I made sure to stay an extra day so I could hang out with him.  For Father’s Day we tried Vin Rouge in downtown Durham.  French food is not usually my favorite but I was super impressed with this place.  EVERYTHING we ordered was amazing – they kept the bread coming with the most amazing olive oil I’ve tasted (and I’m an olive oil snob, y’all) – and for a fine dining experience, the prices were very moderate.  I left fat and happy! The next day, before heading back home from Savannah, I drove out to a new wedding venue for the area.  My friends at Farm and Filigree have just opened up their farm for weddings.  And let me tell you, this place is GORGEOUS.  Not to mention Farm and Filigree know how to throw a wedding.  But I will be doing a full feature on that soon! How was everyone else’s weekend? What did y’all do to celebrate your dad?
