2022 wedding season is already here! We’ve been celebrating it by breaking down all the trends we think you’ll see for 2022. We’ve discussed bridal bouquets, wedding gowns, and tablescapes. Now, we’re onto cakes! We love a gorgeous wedding cake, and no one does it better than Vanilla and the Bean. The owner, Selena, is a true artist. She believes in creating edible works of art, and calls her work “Parisian patisserie meets modern mind-blowingly eclectic luxury confection”.
For this shoot, Selena got extra creative and came up with amazing (and delicious!) wedding cakes, and we had the opportunity to photograph them. We asked her about her inspiration for these different wedding cakes, so we could share them with you!
This three-tiered white classic cake meets vintage – you’ll be seeing shorter tiers making a comeback, matched with romantic asymmetrical floral pieces. When thinking about your wedding cake, consider the final vision of the wedding day. If the focal point is the organic blooms, add fresh blooms to your cake, or cake table.
All the neutrals meet chic. Incorporating off-centered tiers and stonework like this terrazzo beauty is sure to be all the rage this year. A few fresh flowers add a soft touch of color, balancing out the asymmetrical design.
Piping galore! Let’s take it a few decades back but add in some modern twists. Glitter dusted fruits and fun pops of color are sure to be a statement piece for a whimsical curated wedding.
This three-tiered subtly textured stone cake with imperfect mother of pearl-esque stones was adorned with abstract wafer paper accents. We are seeing so many clients nixing florals and gravitating towards edible accents. Yes, every piece of this cake is editable! Cakes don’t have to just be beautiful – they can be delicious too!
We’ve seen these techniques slowly making their way into cake design. Think finding the beauty in imperfection. Delicately hand-torn fondant wrapping and hand-painted details adorned with floral appliqués.
Vanilla and the Bean did such a wonderful job. They can do so many unique flavors, and they are able to really customize for their couples. We loved having the opportunity to work with them!
If you’re in the middle of planning your wedding, we’d love to hear from you! Meeting new couples and hearing their wedding day plans is one of our favorite parts of the job. Let us know how we can help make your wedding day special!
